Detailed info about these was sparse over the internet. The unit does come with an insert, not mentioned anywhere. Although recommended for gas stoves, it seems fine on my glass-leading electric. Looks fine, too! 99-cent-a-pound beef ribs succulent in less than 1 hour. I will be ordering the five-liter Contura ... only wish I could come across a bigger one to match. The Hawkins web page lists a six.five-liter model, but I cannot discover a single for sale anyplace on line. This three-liter is a bit smaller than expected, but I am glad I bought it.
This is the best cooker and I've had a couple of distinctive ones. When you cook chuck steak and some potatoes and onion you cannot help but really like it. Only downside and minor at that is the design tends to make for tricky pouring from the cooker, you lift contents out.
